When I was a kid, my parents decided to sell the small brick home we lived in. Unfortunately, they didn’t receive any high offers for the house. Because I don’t ever want to experience the difficulties selling a house that my parents did, I’ve researched home improvements homeowners can make to add value to their properties before placing them on the market. A great remodeling project to undertake before selling a home is installing new windows. New windows can add value by improving both the appearance and energy efficiency of a home. On this blog, I hope you will discover the benefits of installing new windows in your home before attempting to sell it. Enjoy!

Purchasing and installing replacement windows and doors is a great choice, especially if the ones in your house have been around for more than a decade. Improvements in materials and designs have significantly upgraded the durability, lightness, and energy efficiency of replacement doors and windows. If you're getting ready for a project, take these four things into account before starting.
Are Permits Required?
In most jurisdictions, simply replacing a door or a window does not require a construction or renovation permit. The major exception to this is if you are altering the hole where the door or window will go, especially if you are enlarging it. Do not make assumptions about the permit requirements in your region. Contact the compliance officer for your municipality or county and find out what the rules are specifically. Give them details for your project so they can provide you the best possible answer.
Energy Efficiency
Particularly when replacing older items, there's a good chance you may recoup your costs over time through improved energy efficiency. The factors to look for when checking out replacement doors and windows are the U-value and the R-value. An R-value measures how resistant a material is to thermal transfer and how well the material insulates. The U-value represents how much heat will be lost.
Put simply, higher R-values and lower U-values are good. According to one study, the best modern products can achieve U-values as low as 0.15 and R-values above 5. For reference, this is about as good as you can expect from a properly insulated wall.
UV Protection
Solar film is a material that blocks UV rays from the sun from entering through a window. Investing in windows that come with UV protection can be an investment in protecting paint, furniture, and possessions in your house. They may even reduce the risk of skin cancer.
The low-E factor will tell you how well particular windows do the job. If you have a window that gets hit hard by the sun during the day, look for a window that has a higher low-E value because that means less more light and less heat gets through.
Projected Costs
Replacing a door can be expected to cost between $470 and $1,400. An individual replacement window is likely to cost between $175 and $700. Bear in mind that added features and additional size will increase expenses, and repair work may need to be performed on frames and sills.
