About Me

Selling Your Home

When I was a kid, my parents decided to sell the small brick home we lived in. Unfortunately, they didn’t receive any high offers for the house. Because I don’t ever want to experience the difficulties selling a house that my parents did, I’ve researched home improvements homeowners can make to add value to their properties before placing them on the market. A great remodeling project to undertake before selling a home is installing new windows. New windows can add value by improving both the appearance and energy efficiency of a home. On this blog, I hope you will discover the benefits of installing new windows in your home before attempting to sell it. Enjoy!

Two Signs That It's Time To Clean Your Gutters

by Jesse Henderson

It can be very easy to forget about the gutters on the outside of your home.  They may seem like just another fixture that adorns your house.  However, your gutters play a very important role in keeping the structure of your house sound and intact.  That's why it's so important to keep them free of leaves and debris.  Don't wait until an emergency situation forces you to clean these all-important devices; use this information to learn more about the signs that it's time to clean out your gutters.

You Notice Plants Growing Out Of Your Gutters

One of the main signs that your gutters need to be cleaned is when you notice plants growing out of them.  Although you may think that the greenery coming out of your gutters is just a part of nature, it's actually an indication that you've let your gutters go for a bit too long.

It's natural for dirt and debris to end up in your gutters.  Leaves and dirt tend to build up as the wind blows.  If you keep a solid routine of cleaning out your gutters, the debris won't accumulate to such an extent that it becomes a good breeding ground for seeds.  If you don't clean out your gutters on a regular basis, they can become a hot bed for plants and flowers to come into full bloom.

That's why it's so important for you to pay attention to the state of your gutters.  When you notice greenery growing out of them, schedule some time to clean your gutters so you can avoid major problems.

There's Flooding In Your Home

Another sign that it's time to clean your gutters is when you notice water pooling up in your home.  This will likely happen when it rains outside, and you may be wondering why the water starts seeping indoors.

Gutters are designed to channel water away from your house.  However, when the gutters are full of leaves, the water can't get through the debris and away from your home.  As a result, it is backed up against your structure, and may begin to leak inside.

Taking the time to pay attention to your gutters could be the key to protecting your home and the investment that you've made in it.  If you notice any one of these signs, have your gutters cleaned right away so you can keep your house in good condition.
